The Ceremony
The bride and groom were seated at the front. I couldn't really understand anything.
They would get up, Kate would grab Dilip's scarf and he would lead her around the front in a circle.
They did that a few times in between the guy who lead the ceremony speaking and then they served all of us blessed food at the end.
Dress Code
The ceremony was Hindu and held in a Gurdwara, so all the women had to have their heads and ankles covered. I wore a long dress and a scarf over my head.
Meet Kate
I met Kate in my first class at Columbia, RW1. After that, we had a class together in 5 out of our 6 semesters at the J-school, so obviously we have the same sorts of interests. We talked about school, work, relationships and everything else on our subway rides from campus each night after we got out of class and headed back south. It was quite a coincidence that I was in Hong Kong for her wedding; she got engaged just as I was leaving New York and her then fiance's family is from here! Thanks to Kate, I experienced my first Indian wedding. I've always dreamed of going to one and she was such a beautiful bride! I'm really happy I got to share this special event with her.
